Pro Loco associations (visitors' offices) are recognized as the basic tools that safeguard the natural, artistic, and cultural values of the places where they operate. They also promote tourist and cultural activities by means of initiatives that attract people's attention to the tourist and cultural heritage, that safeguard the historical, cultural, folkloric and environmental heritage of the location. All these initiatives are aimed at attracting tourism to the specific location and at improving the general conditions of holiday; with the participation of local people, they launch initiatives that achieve the social aims of tourism; they provide tourist assistance and information, also in cooperation with consumers' associations; recreational activities.
